Writers from Karnataka, Dadapeer Jyman and Thamanna Beegar, receive Akademi awards

Dadapeer Jyman, a young writer from Vijayanagar district, and Thamanna Beegar, a veteran teacher from Uttara Kannada district, have received the Kendriya Sahitya Akademi award for 2022.

The award, which comes with a monetary prize of Rs 50,000 and a memento, will be handed in December in New Delhi. Jyman was chosen for his tale collection 'Neelakurinji' in the young literary area, while Beegar won for his children's book 'Bavali Guhe.'

"I am overjoyed. "It's an amazing event in my life," Jyman, a private firm employee in Bengaluru, told TNIE. "I am honoured to be the recipient of the country's second highest literary prize," he added.
